From Farm to Brew: The Journey of Our Premium Hop Extract
Share
The art of brewing is steeped in tradition, science, and innovation, and that’s no different to what we do at JRM. At the heart of every brew lies a vital ingredient: hops. Hops not only add the distinct bitterness and flavour to beer, but also carry the aromas that make each brew unique. At JRM, we’re proud to play a key role in the brewing industry by delivering premium liquid hop extract that embodies sustainability, precision, and quality. But how do we get from farm to brew? Let us take you on the journey of our hop extract.
Step 1: Responsibly Sourcing Hops
At JRM, it all begins on the farm. We source our hops from regions celebrated for their optimal growing conditions—rich soil, ample sunlight, and perfect climates that yield hops of the highest quality. We are commitment to sustainability at all stages. This ensures not only that we receive the finest raw materials but that future generations of brewers will too.
Raw hops are usually turned into pellets by grinding up whole hop cones and pressing them - and then turned into liquid / extract form, which is how they arrive with us at JRM.
Step 2: Innovative Processing Methods
In our state-of-the-art processing facilities, the liquid hops undergo a meticulous process that transforms them into highly concentrated liquid hop extracts. This process ensures that the hops' essential oils and alpha acids are fully preserved. Using advanced extraction technology, we capture the very essence of the hops. This not only guarantees consistent flavour and aroma in every brew but also significantly reduces waste.
Our process also allows for precise standardisation, meaning brewers can rely on consistent bitterness levels and hop profiles, regardless of variations in raw hop crops. This consistency is key for breweries producing large-scale, high-quality beer.
Step 3: Providing Brewing Range
Beginning with CO2 extract, we can produce a variety of products to suit a wide range of brewing applications. We convert the primary bittering component found within hops, α-acids, into iso-α-acids (IAA) through a process called isomerisation. This can improve yields from around 20-30% up to 97%.
This isomerisation would occur anyway in the 'boil stage' of the brewing process, but inefficiently. In contrast, our processes enables this change to happen separately which is what enables a more efficient use of the raw material.
When we manage this isomerisation separately, it provides brewers not only a hugely increased efficiency in their production process, but also improved consistency of flavour, volumes and more manageable cost.

Sustainability: A Journey Worth Celebrating
The journey from farm to our extracts, and then to brew isn’t just about creating a high-quality product—it’s about embracing sustainability at every step. JRM is proud to support breweries in their mission to create excellent beer with minimal environmental impact.
Our premium hop extract offers brewers the chance to craft incredible beer while championing sustainability. By reducing waste, improving efficiency, and offering unmatched flavour precision, we’re not just transforming how beer is brewed—we’re helping the brewing industry become greener and more sustainable for the future.
