Introducing JRM Tetra! A Brief History
Share
In 1996, Jim and Ross Seaton, then running a CO2 hop extract isomerisation business started in 1993, received word that their ISO product has great potential in producing a Tetra product due to its high quality in comparison to other options.
They acted on this interest and produced an ISO product for merchants looking to produce and sell Tetra. This production continued through the late 90’s and 2000’s at high volume, highlighting the success of the project.
This piqued the interest of Jim and Ross. What if they could make a tetra product fully in-house? This would be a huge challenge for a small team.
In 2010, they set the building blocks by purchasing a lab scale hydrogenator to develop a process that would be commercially viable.
From this, Tetra production using the developed process was outsourced. Again, this proved to be a successful venture for JRM, leading to high-quality batches of Tetra being produced.
With the confidence gained through this previous workflow, JRM decided to invest and source a plant scale hydrogenator, starting the final step of the plan Jim and Ross set back in 2010.
A tank was finally built and placed on site in 2021.
The following years proved difficult due to a mixture of COVID and Brexit bringing its own complications in receiving parts and getting contractors onto site, alongside a transitioning team.
Fast forward to 2024 and everything was set in place to commission the tank. The next 2 years involved sorting the issues with scaling from lab size to full size production.
In July 2026, work was completed on the reactor tank that allowed JRM to produce a commercially comparable, cost-effective and high-quality product.
This achievement for a small team is nothing short of impressive, even when it seemed that there may be too many obstacles in the way.
Sadly, Jim passed away in 2024 and did not witness the first commercial sales of our new Tetra product, the culmination of 30 years of his hard work, expertise and passion. Our ability to discuss, produce and even write this article is all down to Ross, Jim and his lasting legacy that continues with JRM Products.
