Iso (10%, 20%, 30%)

Iso alpha acids (IAA) are the purified isomer of alpha produced from CO2 Extract. The product offers a cost-effective and precise bittering additive for brewers to adjust bittering levels later in the brew.

The product is typically offered as a 10, 20 or 30% w/w solution, which is readily miscible with water. The product is recommended to be added after fermentation and before final filtration.

Iso 30% can be used to complement early hop additions, and is often used to make final adjustments prior to packaging. The expected utilisation of Iso in this format may be upwards of 80%. In fact, additions after filtration and prior to bottling can result in utilisation of 90-95%, depending on the nature of dosing and efficiency of dissolving.

JRM can also supply pure Iso as a concentrated free acid. This product has the same high area purity as our solutions however the IAA concentration is in excess of 90% w/w.

Iso may be stored for up to 2 years in suitable conditions, avoiding extremes of temperature. We package in 20 litre UN drum containers and full IBC’s, or other custom solutions can be supplied upon request.

  • IAA allows brewers to precisely adjust bittering levels late in the brewing process, offering a controlled and cost-effective way to achieve desired bitterness.

  • With utilisation rates of up to 90-95% when added after filtration, IAA provides highly efficient bitterness extraction, ensuring minimal waste and maximum impact.

  • Offered in various concentrations (10%, 20%, 30%), IAA solutions are water-miscible and suitable for late additions, making it easy to fine-tune hop character before final packaging.
